About JL Britt Electric
A family-owned electrical contractor built on faith, hard work, and a genuine commitment to the communities of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
Our Story
Nearly Four Decades of Family-Owned Service
JL Britt Electric, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Johnny L. Britt and his wife Bettie. Johnny brought a lifetime of hands-on experience to the business, starting on his family's farm, then serving as an aircraft electrician in the mid-1960s, and later honing his craft on commercial and residential electrical projects with other companies before striking out on his own.
Today, JL Britt Electric is owned and operated by their son Jason Britt and his wife Deana. Jason grew up in the trade, working alongside his father as a teenager, and has carried forward the same commitment to quality and integrity that Johnny instilled from day one. This is truly a family business, built by one generation and grown by the next.
Over the decades we have completed a wide range of electrical projects: home wiring and re-wiring, agricultural wiring, local, state and federal government electrical projects, fire alarm systems, parking lot lighting, mechanical installations, fuel piping, concrete and building modifications, and of course standby power systems. That breadth of experience means we bring real-world problem-solving to every job we take on.
Today our primary focus is the installation, service, repair, design and preventative maintenance of standby power systems. Our flagship brand is Generac. We are a certified Generac Elite Plus Dealer and hold Protector Plus level technician certification, among the highest credentials Generac awards. We also supply Winco generators for agricultural and business applications, and Blue Star Power Systems for business and industrial needs.
We stock a wide range of generator and electrical parts, offer 24-hour monitoring, and have friendly office staff ready to assist with scheduling, backed by well-trained, certified technicians in the field.

What Drives Us
Our Values
These aren't words on a wall, they're the principles that guide every estimate, every installation, and every conversation we have with a customer.
Faith-Guided Service
Our work is rooted in Christian values — honesty, integrity, and treating every customer the way we would want to be treated ourselves. We believe a handshake still means something.
Family & Community
JL Britt Electric was built by a family and has served Eastern North Carolina families for nearly four decades. We take pride in being a trusted neighbour, not just a contractor.
Safety First
Every installation and repair is performed to the highest safety standards. Our licensed electricians follow all applicable codes so your home and family are protected.
Excellence in Craft
We hold ourselves to a higher standard. From the first consultation to the final inspection, we deliver workmanship that stands the test of time — and the next storm.
Continuous Learning
The electrical and generator industry evolves constantly. Our team pursues ongoing training and manufacturer certifications so we can offer you the best solutions available.
Reliable When It Matters
Power outages don't keep business hours. We're here when you need us — before the storm, during the installation, and long after the job is done.
Faith at the Foundation
JL Britt Electric is a Christian-owned business. Our faith shapes the way we treat our customers, our employees, and our community. We believe in doing honest work, keeping our word, and going the extra mile, not because it's good for business, but because it's the right thing to do.
When you invite us into your home, you're trusting us with something precious. We don't take that lightly. Every job we complete is a reflection of the values we hold, and we're grateful for every opportunity to serve.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
— Colossians 3:23
